Where will my child line up in the morning?
The Kindergarten classes lines up on the black top between Emerson and Heritage. The students will line up inside the black gates by Emerson’s playground. Ms. Optie's class will line up where it says "KO."
Where will my child be dismissed?
The students are dismissed in the same spot that they line up in the morning. Kindergarten students will be dismissed with first and second grade. At the beginning of the school year, I will dismiss one student at a time so that I see who your child is going home with. As the year progresses, I become familiar with faces and have the students walk outside with me.
What time does school start?
School begins at 8:25 and ends at 3:00.
What should I do if my child is sick?
When your child is sick, please call the school office to let them know. Your child must be illness free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
Can I send a treat on my child’s birthday?
Yes, you may send a treat to school, but I ask that you do not send cupcakes. The treat must be wrapped and easy to take home. Examples of treats you may send are goldfish, fruit snacks, Rice Krispie Treats (already packaged), etc. Treats will be passed out at the end of the day.
What is the best way to contact Ms. Optie?
The best way to contact me is through e-mail. [email protected] You may also send a note with your child or leave a message with the office.
What should I do if I have to pick up my child early?
If a situation arises where you need to pick up your child early, please stop in the Emerson office. The office staff will call down to the room. Your child will get ready to go home and will meet you in the office.
Will my child be eating lunch at school?
Yes, all kindergarten students will have lunch at school. Your child can either bring his/her own lunch or purchase lunches through the lunch services at school. Menus will go home for each month so that you know what will be served each day. Your child does not have to bring money every day to pay for each individual lunch. Each child has an account for breakfast/lunch money. You can send a check for the whole month so that you do not have to worry about sending money each day to school with your child.
